Camping Chronicles – Clifty Falls State Park 🍁Fall Break Edition

We just got home from a great little trip down to Madison, Indiana. Thankful for an extra night due to fall break.

On the way down we stopped for a late lunch in North Vernon at Cheeky Monday’s. It was delicious. Great bar food and would definitely go back.

Our first night (and some of the first full day / Friday) was a little rainy so we spent some time in our new coloring books and games.

Finally the rain held off and we headed out for some hiking. We stopped in at the Nature Center and then did Trail 1 and part of Trail 5.

This fungi reminded me of candy corn!

Trail 5 was a wet one! Everyone needed new clothes when we returned to the camper.

We went back to the camper and quickly changed clothes. Then we headed over to the pool area to get loaded up for a hayride.

Then it was time to enjoy the fire and wait for dinner.

Saturday was a gorgeous day. We enjoyed Trail 7 and got to see Big and Little Clifty Falls

The trail ended with a playground so Brooks was ecstatic.

Back to the camper for a new lunch – pizza sandwiches over the fire. Delish!

Mikey loves our matching hats.

Mike decided we needed a trip to Madison to enjoy some ice cream. No one argued. Duh.

For dinner we had chili and grilled cheese and it hit the spot after a chilly, busy day.

Sunday we tried the breakfast at Clifty Inn. Do NOT recommend that. Very disappointing.

Loved all the fall scenery and great photo ops throughout the state park and Madison.

There’s never a bad camping weekend. Even the rain can’t stop us from making memories and spending time together.

Bonus – I finished two books this weekend. Freida McFadden’s The Divorce and Elle Kennedy’s The Deal. Loved both!

We came home with loads of laundry and the Sunday Scaries. I’m always grateful for Mike that he makes our camping dreams come true. I’m also thankful for Papaw who loves to make the memories with us.
