Daily I face the awful feeling of mom guilt. If you’re a mom, I can guarantee you know it.
I’m sure some of you know it and face it stronger than I do like the badasses I know you are. While others I’m sure it rips you apart and you’re barely able to stand after.
I’m somewhere in between. Although on Monday when I lost it, I was barely able to stand. It was a bad day. It was one of those days I fell asleep consumed with sadness and guilt and determined to make the next day better.
This summer has been challenging at times. The littlest angel has tested me. I’ve broken him and Miss J is going to have her work cut out for her when we return. It might be an exaggeration but I feel like he screams at me most of the day. Demands. Questions. Even “Mom I Love You!” But all of it at a screaming level.
Oh, and mostly demands.
He’s lost his mind. Thankfully his dimples save him most of the time.
But today it occurred to me. This is his last summer of being 4. And brothers last summer of being 8 and 10.
Next summer he’ll be a 5 year old ready to face kindergarten. I am not ready for any of that.
So tonight I lay in bed and I always just try to overthink the day the best I can and contemplate what I can do better. I also think about the things I saw and things we did that I want to picture again.
Today he built a car with Lego’s of his very own design. He got out of bed and dressed himself before he came downstairs like a big boy. He questioned me yet again on why popcorn can’t be breakfast. He screamed “oh my butt” over and over from a lovely television show. He watched me work in my classroom while he get everything he can touch out to play with. He sat on my lap while I made some things on my computer for school. He ate blueberries, a bun, a bite of corn, and applesauce for dinner and still said he has hungry 2 seconds later but also said he was done. Then he begged me lay with him and snuggle on the couch til I gave in. Finally he was in bed, but now he laws here peacefully after being told a dozen times to go back to his bed.
Because he’s the baby.
And I gave in due to…..
mom guilt.

These days go by to fast and we always have mom guilt to remind us.
If you have a great tool or any advice on how to help with mom guilt…please share!
Always a Fortunate Gal
